Woman nabbed for possessing Indian-hemp in Nkhata Bay
Two days after Mzuzu Police caught a Man with Indian hemp, on Monday February 12, Nkhata Bay Police also nabbed a 39-year-old Mary Banda for allegedly being found in possession of Cannabis Sativa.
Banda was arrested at the roadblock by Police Officers who were on night duty who conducted thorough search in a minibus which was coming from Dwangwa going to Mzuzu.
The officers found three big travelling bags and three small ones all containing the illicit drugs, hence the arrest of the owner.
She is currently in police custody waiting for trial.
Mary Banda hails from Kabuwa Village, Traditional Authority Kanyeda in Nkhotakota District.
In related development Police in Mzuzu have arrested a 44 year Charles Gremu for being found in possession of Indian hemp.
This occurred on February 12, 2024 at Chibwaka roadblock.
Police officers manning the roadblock were on their duty when they intercepted a Teamkwezy Zhoghtong bus which was being driven from Nkhata-Bay heading to Blantyre.
Upon conducting a thorough search, officers found 5 cartons of Indian hemp belonging to Mr Gremu who is now in police custody and 5 cartons of Indian hemp has been seized.
Charles Gremu hails from Mangulama village traditional authority Nkalo in Chiradzulu district.
