Ministry of trade enforce business license on live poultry in Malawi

The ministry of trade and industry has come out and say all live poultry producers should stop distributing the live poultry in all trading centers and markets.

According to the statement that the ministry has released on Wednesday January 24,2023 and signed by principle secretary Francis Zhuwao says the live poultry producers should only concentrate on selling their live poultry in there production facilities in wholesale not retails and leave all distribution business to small scale distribution companies for malawian.

“The ministry had directed large poultry producing companies that they should concentrate on selling live poultry from there production facilities by wholesale and leave all distribution and retailing to malawian traders and farmers.”

It has been noted that many live poultry producers sale chicken in retails and distribute them in trading centers and markets on their own.

The ministry says it has done this to pave way and safeguard an inclusive growth of poultry business in the country between the small scale poultry farmers and the traders in the country.

The statement continue to say all retail and distributing companies should follow all procedures by registering there companies and label there van with the companies name for well Identification.

The ministry further say it will use the Malawi Police service to monitor the situation among players in the business.

“The ministry wishes to inform the general public that the Malawi police service has been empowered to monitor the operation of the players on the ground especially in movement of poultry mobile vans that they have all required permits.”

All live poultry producers have been ordered that they should stop this by February 29,2023 and if they do so they will face the law.
