Court stops Ison Xperiences(Airtel call centre )workers to stage strike

The industrial court in the Lilongwe registry has given a stay order to Ison xperiences (Airtel call centre) stopping it’s workers from staging a strike on salary increments.
According to the court order dated January 23,2023 says the workers should not continue with the planned strike.
The court has further says it will call for an interparty hearing withing 21 days.
“It is hereby and order and directed the notice of intention to strike issued by the respondent or any other such notice be and hereby suspended pending determination of the main matter or further order of the court.” Part of court order.
One of the workers at Ison xperiences (Airtel call centre) says it is very sudden that the company is failing to increase the salary of it’s workers considering to the way of living in the country.
The worker who seek for anonymous says the workers are receiving K50,000 and also being deducted an amount of K2500 per month.
“As workers we are very shocked and wonder how the company like Ison xperiences (Airtel call centre) is refusing to increase the salary of it’s workers considering the way of living in this country.
“I can give you an example that the minimum salary of the workers at Ison xperiences (Airtel call centre) is at K50,000 and they also deduct us K2500 per month which means we receive K45500.”
Communication workers Union of Malawi (COWUMA) on January 19, 2023 releases a statement which gives Ison xperiences (Airtel call centre) seven days to answer there grievances and if fails they will stage a strike.
The strike was scheduled to start on Monday, January 29, 2023 and it is not known whether the workers will vacate the order or not.
