Man Arrested for Burglary, Theft at Jenda
Police at Jenda have on January 10, 2024 arrested a 33-year-old man, Alex Tembo 33, after he was caught inside Chikwendene Distributor Shop cutting the roof during the night at Jenda Trading Centre in Mzimba.
It has been established that around 01:00 am on the said date the security guard heard strange noise inside the shop, thus when he alerted other guards at the nearby shop whom later informed police officers who were on patrol.
The suspect after sensing the arrival of Police attempted to free the scene. This prompted police officers to fire two canisters of teargas which made him to fall back into the shop from the roof top and was later arrested.
Scene was visited during day time by Police detectives and it was learnt that Tembo gained entry into the shop by cutting the roof and money amounting to K629,150.00 was recovered after searching him, hidden under the trousers.
After interrogation, Tembo revealed to have only stollen the money from the shop.
He is also suspected to have commited similar cases around Jenda.
Tembo has since been charged with burglary which is contrary to Section 309 and he will appear before court soon.
Alex Tembo comes from Thom Village in Traditional Authority Chisemphere in Kasungu District.
