Mzuzu DFA Conducts Draw for FAM League Quarterfinals

Mzuzu District Football Association on Sunday conducted a draw for Quarterfinals of FAM League at Luwinga Technical Ground.

The draw paired Sonda United with Holera Fc, with Moyale Barracks Reserve facing Chikago while

Eagles Strikers will face Dairy United for a third time after playing two groups games and Enyezini will battle against their neighbors Blue Sport.

The first semifinal will see the winner between Eagle Strikers and Dairy face either Moyale Reserve or Chikago while the other semifinals will see the winner between Enyezini and Blue Sport facing the winner between Sonda and Holera.

Speaking after the draw General Secretary for Mzuzu District Football Association Alphack Mkandawire says the league has been successful as it has produced several players and continues to be very competitive while indicating that the quarterfinals are slatted for the weekend to be followed by semifinals the other week.

Mkandawire further advised teams to maintain discipline and adhere to rules and regulations.

“The league is very competitive and we expect the competition to continue, the league has been a success we now have several players some in Super League whilst others are playing in the regional league and we appeal to teams to maintain discipline the games will be played on a neutral ground with competent referees.” said Mkandawire after the draw.

Fumbani Nkhonjera one of the official from Holera Fc says the league has given youth a platform to expause their talent while staying away from wayward behavior.

“The league has given our players to showcase their talents while keeping them busy and as a team we have assembled a good squad we believe we will do better and reach the final and maybe grab it.” Nkhonjera said.

Macliff Ngulube from Eagle Strikers says they anticipate a tough game against a team from the same group having faced them twice in which they lost the first and won the last game last weekend.

“The draw was transparent we are playing against Dairy which we were in the same group we will be facing for the third time, we will take it as a final the league has given players a platform to showcase their talents” Said Ngulube.

The champion will pocket K1 000,000 a rise from K500 000 last season following a rise of sponsorship from K2 million to K3 million, Bwabwa United won the league last season after beating Blue Sport.

The district leagues are sponsored by the Football Association of Malawi to the tune of K3 Million per district.
