Gospel singer Rudo Mkukupa Chakwera drops Christmas album
Malawi’s talented gospel singer Rudo Mkukupa Chakwera, has dropped her captivating Christmas album titled ‘Merry Christmas with Love’.
In an interview with Malawi Guardian, Rudo said the album seeks to joyously celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, conveying a message of love, hope, and the profound spiritual significance of Christmas.
She said the album is aimed at inspiring a deep sense of connection to the divine love embodied in the nativity story, encouraging listeners to share and embrace love during the festive season.
The singer said the album has hit songs like Mwana wa Lonjezo, Mukhola la ng’ombe, Tiyeni Timulambile, Amithenga Amulungu, Ng’oma yanga, Usikuwo and Chikondi Chodabwitsa.
She promised great performance in 2024 as she has more music projects to work on including international collaborations.
“Anticipate significant developments in the upcoming year, as I am actively involved in various projects.
“My focus includes producing international videos and organizing vibrant shows, transitioning from international events to ones hosted in Malawi. Get ready for an exciting year ahead!,” she said.
Commenting on how she sees music industry in Malawi, Rudo said:”The Malawian music industry grapples with issues concerning infrastructure, distribution, and exposure.Simultaneously, certain musicians are making notable strides to go international, demonstrating considerable success in their endeavors.”
Rudo Mkukupa, a daughter of iconic jazz artist Isaac Mkukupa, is a renowned figure in Malawi’s music scene.
She Started her singing career in 1999.
She gained fame with her debut album featuring the hit ‘Ndine Mwana wamasiye.’
Holding a Masters in Business Administration, she studied music at Chancellor College and later returned to teach part-time.
Rudo, associated with her father’s group ‘Touch of Class,’ has graced significant events, including performances at the SADC Heads of State Banquet.
A respected voice in Malawi’s music, she serves on the National Executive Committee and holds various artistic positions.
As a judge on ‘E-Wallet’ and with four albums under her belt, Rudo continues to contribute to Malawi’s musical landscape and is working on her fifth album.
Beyond music, she is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Touch Entertainment, a mother of three, married to Pastor Nicky Chakwera, and actively engaged in youth counseling and life coaching., to
