Husband arrested for killing his wife in Mzimba
Police in Mzimba have arrested a 29 years old man, Gerald Kapira of Mwenepembo village in Traditional Authority (T/A) Chikulamayembe in Rumphi District for allegedly killing his wife Lizzie Mbewe, 38 years old.
It is reported that, the duo Kapira (suspect) and his wife Mbewe (deceased) took a quarrel during the night of Sunday, June 11, 2023 at their house which is within Mzimba Trading Centre. In the process Kapira (husband) took a knife and stubbed Mbewe (wife) on the stomach several times and later he stubbed himself on the stomach and neck.
The couple was rushed to Mzimba District Hospital but on a sad note, the wife was pronounced dead upon arrival while the husband was referred to Mzuzu Central Hospital for further medication.
The matter was reported to police who visited the scene and postmortem conducted at Mzimba District Hospital indicated that death was due to loss of blood secondary to multiple of stub wounds.
Kapira (suspect) who is admitted at Mzuzu Central Hospital and still in Police custody, will appear before court soon once he gets discharged to answer murder charges.
Lizzie Mbewe hailed from Peter Ndabandaba Village, Traditional Authority M’mbelwa in Mzimba District.
