Fuel Price Increase Continuously At Black Market

Some tax driver and motorcycle riders known as kabaza from area 49 Lilongwe have Expressed their worries due to high fuel prices from black market.

Following a two week drought of Fuel from different filling station,Black market is now active supplying fuel at a higher price.
Gift Chapepa ,is one of the tax driver who disclosed that 1 liter is bought at k5000

“We buy the fuel at k5, 000 from the black market which is very expensive than normal price at filling station. We accept to buy because it’s our source of income although it happens that we do spend a day without taxing due to lack of fuel to filling our cars .”
Said Chapepa

But to the side of the government through its minister of information Moses Kumkuyu said that lack of foreign currency is the major cause of the lack of fuel and they are aware of the problem as such they are making sure that the country can have sufficient fuel in the country.

“Lack of foreign currency is the major cause, but we are working on it and Fuel will be available this coming week Wednesday” said the minister.

The country is expected to receive 5.5 million liters through Dar_salam in Tanzania and 1 million liters from Mozambique.

Malawi is still having shortage of Fuel from different filling station since 2 weeks ago.
