Mabedi Appointed Flames Caretaker coach

Football association of Malawi (FAM) has appointed former Flames player and head coach for Kaizer Chiefs, Patrick Mabedi as Malawi national football team caretaker head coach unti September 2023.

This has been reviewed in Salima where FAM Executive Committee conducted a meeting to resolved and appoint Mabedi as flames caretaker coach.

Mabedi who is also Malawi national football team under 20 will be in charge for the remaining two games in Total energies African Cup of Nations group qualifiers where flames will met Ethiopia in June and later in September with Guinea and Mabedi will also be in charge for flames cosafa games slated in May this year.

Patrick Mabedi has taken the role of Mario Marian Marinica whose contract was not renewed after poor performance of flames in AFCON group stages.

Mabedi once served as flames assistant coach in 2013 under coach late Eddington Ng’onamo and has also coached for international teams like south Africa based club team Kaizer Chiefs.
