Kapondera Appointed Moyale Barracks Sports trustee

Moyale Barracks Sports has appointed Dr Sellina Kapondera as one of the Trustees in Sports Trustees committee.

According to the letter dated 18 April 2023, and signed by 3 Malawi Rifles, Moyale Barracks Commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Thokozani Chazema Psc.

“I hereby appoint you as a Trustee of Moyale Barracks Sports. The trusteeship is primarily responsible for the sporting clubs’ general running and policy direction through the Executive Committee”.

Apropos , I assure you that you are joining a successful team that needs to tap from your experience to achieve more significant milestones. Your involvement in the running of the affairs of the teams will contribute towards the improvement and professionalism of Moyale Barracks Sports,” reads part of the statement.

Commenting on her appointment, Dr Kapondera said she is honoured with the position.

“I have accepted the appointment. I am honoured to be one of the trustees, I am delighted to be part of this important group” She said.

Kapondera has joined a team of experienced trustees in the name of
Justice Dingiswayo Madise, Professor Wales Singini, Counsel Victor Gondwe and Mr Bright Kamanga.

Moyale Barracks Sports is a successful group of various sporting disciplines based at Moyale Barracks, including Moyale Football Club, which has Mzuzu Stadium as its home.

The Club was established in 1967 and had since 1995 played in the top-tier
association football of Malawi, the Super League of Malawi. The team prides itself on adopting a local nickname, The Lions of Kaning’ina Forest, to protect Kaning’ina Forest Reserve.

The other notable sport is volleyball. The Moyale volleyball team has been the national champions for the past five years. Other notable sporting activities include
basketball, netball and hockey.
