“Kakhobwe is an experienced player who has good records and we believe that he will help us. We want to stay in the league, that’s why we are trying to sign experienced players. With him between the sticks, with Chimango in midfield, they still have energy to perfom, ” said Mphatso Jika.
Tembo’s resurgence forces Kakhobwe to join Bangwe
After refusing to extend his contract with Nyasa Big Bullets before the 2022 season started, Kakhobwe who was the number 1 goalkeeper for the Flames, opted to join the government sponsored side, Civil Service United.
Kakhobwe quickly established himself as the number goal-minder for Civo but he could not continue with his form for a long period of time.
Tione Tembo resurrected in the second-half of the season and Kakhobwe failed to feature in a single match.
Joining Bangwe All Stars will guarantee him a starting place but he will have to battle it out against his former teammate, Elias Missi.
Bangwe All Stars, the biggest shoppers
The Club has splashed cash into the team in their bid to remain in the league as most of the teams promoted from the Southern Region Football League have been failed to withstand the heat of the League.
Bangwe have now signed more players than any team in the ongoing transfer market.
While announcing the arrival of the former Flames shot-stopper, Bangwe also confirmed that they have signed Play Football Malawi forward, Robert Saize who had his move to Nyasa Big Bullets failed to materialise last year.
Chimango Kayira, Bongani Kaipa, Ernest Kakhobwe, Sunganani Geofrey, Michael Teteh, Emmanuel Lino, Innocent Msowoya are some of the new faces in the Hardware camp.
Justifying their decision, Jika said Bangwe All Stars want to stay in the league.
He said, “After seeing Kakhobwe, Kayira and Kaipa, I believe that we can. We need to work together, everything has its beginning.”
