Homeland and Security minister pledges his March Salary towards Cyclone Freddy victims

As Department of Climate change and metrological services has made its final update on Tropical cyclone Freddy on Thursday March 16,2023, one of the renown politician who is also minister of Homeland and Security Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma say his salary of the month of march will be used to help the flood victims in Blantyre.

The minister says he has done this to show his appreciation to all people affected by cyclone Freddy in Chilobwe township.

Zikhale Ng’oma continue to say he has grown up in Chilobwe township and this has made him to take his salary and gave to all people in Chilobwe.

He has also donated K200,000 to grave diggers who prepare 28 grave of people died of cyclone Freddy in Blantyre and also donate K100,000 to Group Village Head Chilobwe for personal use.

On the same day president Lazarous Chakwera has cheered some flood victims at Queens Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre and later on he went to Mloza boarder post where he also visit the Mloza police Unit, Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) offices in Mulanje.

Speaking at Mkando where he also cheers some flood victims president Lazarus Chakwera says this has not happen in history of Malawi and it’s not only Mulanje which has been affected but the whole Malawi has been destroyed and affected.

Chakwera has assured all flood victims that his government through the Department of Disaster management Affairs(Dodma) will make sure that all people have been helped according and those in prone areas where vehicles can not reach they will use MDF helicopters to reach them with food and non food item.

Chakwera continue to say that maintance work should be done quickly at Mkando Bridge and the maintaince work will be in a modern and fit to natural disasters.

About 250 people has so far confirmed dead after the Cyclone Freddy hit hard in the southern region of Malawi this week and 46 people are still missing.
