Government releases K1.6 billion towards Cyclone Freddy victims

President Lazarus Chakwera has presided over the funeral ceremony of those who died in the disaster of cyclone Freddy in Chilobwe Blantyre.

Speaking on the ceremony Chakwera says everyone who is missing should be accounted for hence edged all Malawians to not stop the search of those missing till they are found whether alive , injured or dead .

The president has also told Malawians that Government has already released 1.6 billion Malawian Kwacha to the Department of Disaster Management Affairs DODMA) ,responding to the disaster and he will meet the cabinet to follow the producers according to law .Chakwera calls upon all Malawians to straighten their hands in helping our friends affected as this is not only for Blantyre people but all Malawians.

He further asked all Malawians to give a deep thought in doing things keeping in mind of today , tomorrow and for the future to prevent cases like this.

Currently the number of those who have died is reported to have risen 225 from 190 people, 707 injured and 41 are still missing.
