Bwabwa United wins Mzuzu District FAM League

Bwabwa United came from behind to beat Blue Sport by 3-1 to win Mzuzu District FAM League on Sunday at Ekwendeni Community.

Blue Sport were the first to score through Helbert Chirambo at 23 minutes, Bwabwa responded through a powerful header from
Samuel Mbizi at 41 minutes so it was 1-1at half time Miscommunication between defenders and their keeper gifted Pearson Mbizi to give Bwabwa United a lead at 58 minutes before Samuel Mbizi scored his second at 86 minutes, so it ended 3-1 to Bwabwa.

Isaac Msiska Coach for Bwabwa United says his team started with defending mindset to read the game and says his team is ready to play in the regional league.

“We started the game with defending mindset to read our counterpart hence those early substitutions in the first half, we have a good squad capable of delivering at any stage, we look forward to participate in Simso Innobuild if we can find steady support” Said Msiska.

His opposite side Eston Mwenegamba conceded the defeat attributing it to silly mistakes by his keeper and his defense.

“Our keeper failed to command his defense for those two goals in the second half but we have a good run in this competition I will make sure we keep these boys because most of them are under 21 so we will bounce back next season”. Said Mwenegamba.

Chairperson for Mzuzu District Football Committee Mapopa Mgemezulu says the competition was impressive and praised teams for good displine.

“The competition was stiff and teams from Ekwendeni side have proved to be more stronger after winning the league for the second time after Chipolopolo won again last time, we did not register any indispline this season teams did well on that part”. Mgemezulu said.

Champions Bwabwa United received K500 000 while runners up Blue Sport got K250 000 and third placed Green Rangers took K120 000 while Bwabwa United’s Samuel Mbizi pocketed K50 000 for finishing as a top goal scorer with 16 goals.

Football Association of Malawi sponsors the district leagues to the tune of K2 Million per season.
