Flames fails to fly, trip on limbo

The Malawi National Football Team ( The Flames)fails to fly out for Saudi Arabia today as communicated before.

The team was expected to leave the country today for a two weeks camp in preparation of the 2023 AFCON qualifying match against Egypt in Cairo on 24 March 2023 and later BNS after four days in Lilongwe .

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Technical Manager , James Sangala confirms that failure of departure is due to unconfirmed air tickets for the trip by Saudi Arabia .

” The team departure will depend on the confirmation of tickets , it might be Friday or Sartuday.”

In preparation of the TotalEnergies AFCON qualifying matches against Egypt The Flames are to play 3 friendly games with teams from Saudi Arabia.
