One of the women activist in the country Mphatso Baluwa challenges women to hold hands to use technology for the good to advance women in all aspects of life .

Baluwa argues women to take the International Women’s Day (IWD) as an opportunity to audit themselves on what they have achieved and see the downfalls. Women should embrace equity and use technology to fight against gender bias and gender based violence in our country .

The day in Malawi was launched by the Minister of Mining Monica Chang’anamuno in the city of Zomba .International women’s Day celebrated today 8 March 2023 not just in Malawi but the world has celebrated the day under the theme ” Digital : Innovation and technology for gender equality.”

The day is dedicated on reflecting on the achievements of ordinary women who have made extraordinary contributions in their communities and countries around the world. The United Nations observance of IWD under this year’s theme celebrate girls and women who are championing the advancement of technology and digital education.
