Malawi VP leads Malawians in commemoration of fallen heros

Malawians have today commemorated the falling heroes who fought selflessly to free our country frm colonialism.

The prayer service has been celebrated under the theme;Resilience,Tenacing and Fortitude of our Heroes: A generational motivation in attaining the Malawi we want.

Every year the country celebrates this day and this year Vice President Saulos Chilima led Malawians in the laying of wreaths at Chilundu memorial pillar in Nkhatabay district. About 31 brave fighters along with three pregnant women were shot dead at Chilundu point in Nkhatabay by British soldiers as they battled to attain independence.

Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara, representative of chief Justice Thomson Ligowe, former vice president Khumbo Kachali, Member of Parliament for Nkhatabay central Simon View Kaunda , Dean of the diplomatic corps Nancy Saungweme, Malawi Defence Force ( MDF) Malawi police service representatives and family members of the deceased also laid wreaths.

The event is characterised by laying of wreaths and prayer sermons from faith leaders from various religious denominations.
