Finance Minister Gwengwe presented the National Budget

Minister of finance Sosten Ngwengwe on Thursday march 2,2023 has presented 2023/24 national budget worthy of 3.87 Trillion kwacha.

The minister which started by titling his statement “Sacrificing today for a better tomorrow”.

Ngwengwe says the government of Malawi has been engaging I with development partners for budget support.

He added that world Bank will support with $160 million while the European Union will announce it’s support once discussion has been concluded.

Some of the government sectors which has been allocated are Education sector allocated K603.3 billion, Agriculture sector with an amount of K455.1 billion, Health sector K330.18 billion, transport and infrastructure sector K246.29 billion, energy sector K51.83 billion and local council has been allocated with K488.09 billion.

The minister has also confirmed that they will continue with the Affordable Input Program (AIP) despite that many people has describe the program as failure to the Nation.
