Chakwera to appear in parliament to answer questions

His excellency Lazarus Mc Cathy Chakwera President of the Republic of Malawi is this afternoon expected to appear before parliament to answer questions from the State of National Address( SONA).

Speaker of parliament Catherine Gotani Hara announced this last week in the 50th session of parliament that the President will today Tuesday 28 February 2023 by 2:00 pm , take questions from Members of Parliament.

Dr Chakwera on Friday during opening the 50th session of parliament admitted that Malawi is facing waves economically.Food security, Affordable inputs programme ,tourism, transport and education are some of SONA’s key highlights .

Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa says the members of the house are ready question to the President.He describes the SONA to be empty saying it is not providing solutions to challenges of Malawi.

President Chakwera during his campaign promised to dissolve some of his powers as President and to be appearing in parliament reguraly.This promise has fully been fulfilled and Malawians can mark on the list of promises.
