AAM members can now breath after ban lifted

Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) has reinstate former President and General secretary for the Athletic Association of Malawi (AAM) Godfrey Phiri and Frank Chitembeya.

According to a letter dated February 26,2023 and signed by MNCS Chairperson Dingiswayo Madise says the decision has been made after the two apologies to the Nation and the Council.

“Noting that the two former officials have demonstrated remorse and that their apologies were unequivacal and contrite, the Malawi National Council of Sports has accepted their apologies and has persuit to it’s statutory authority to regulate and control sports in Malawi, lifted the ban that it had imposed on them forthwith.”

The letter continue to say that the two appeared in mzuzu during a National cross- country event where they made a public apology to the council.

Malawi National council of Sport suspended the two in February 2023 following some disagreement.

This has come as the Annual General Meeting for Athletics Association of Malawi will be held in April this year.
