Chakwera, Chizuma unite in fighting against corruption


The State President, Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera and the Anti-Corruption Bureau Director General Martha Chizuma reassured their commitment to fighting against corruption in the Country.
In consolidating the efforts of his administration in fighting against corruption, Chakwera on Wednesday chaired an interagency meeting which was attended by the Minister of Justice, Hon. Titus Mvalo, the Secretary to the President and Cabinet Ms Colleen Zamba, the Attorney General Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda, the Director of Public Prosecution Masauko Chamkakala and Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau Martha Chizuma herself.
At the meeting that Dr Chakwera convened, he conveyed and reiterated his expectations from the agencies regarding the cooperation, collaboration that agencies present at the meeting must practice in order to make progress in their quest to fighting against corruption.
“The cordial engagement among these critical institutions further cements our resolve to deal with corruption with a seamless approach that bears fruits.

“I have prompted the institutional heads to collaboratively undertake their noble duty guided only by the sovereign administrative and legal statutes above anything else,” said Chakwera through his Facebook page.
Meanwhile, all the officers present expressed their commitment to adhering to the President’s directions.
Malawi as a nation has had several cases of corruption with the most notable one [that] of United Kingdom based business tycoon, Zuneth Sattar who is alleged to be embroidered in Corruption scandals by offering bribes to the government officials for contracts within the government circle.
