De Jongh who was born on December 8, 1970 has coached several professional football clubs around the world including Budapest Honvéd, Kenyan Premier League side A.F.C. Leopards and F.C. Cape Town. De Jongh was most recently manager of Somalia.

Pieter de Jongh began his playing career at NAC Breda, before moving to Sparta Rotterdam only for a serious ankle injury to force the abrupt end of his career.

De Jongh was born in Asperen, Netherlands. He only played in amateur soccer. He started his managerial career at RKC Waalwijk as a youth coach, before becoming a youth coach for the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB). He moved on to manage vv VRC in Veenendaal, FC Dordrecht’s reserve team and Vitesse Delft before becoming the trainee assistant coach in the youth academy of AZ in the Eredivisie. He then went to Hungary to become the academy director of Budapest Honvéd.

On 15 May 2014, Kenyan Premier League giants A.F.C. Leopards announced that De Jongh was set to take over at the club, subject to personal terms.[4] He landed in Kenya and completed his move to the club on 17 May but club chairman Allan Kasavuli announced that De Jongh would no longer be working as head coach, in what he termed as poor season at the helm that saw the team finish the 2014 season in 6th.

He later joined Cape Town Cuty before having spells with Ulaanbaatar City F.C., Rwanda Football Federation [TD], and In 2017 he signed as the head coach of Eswatini national football team of Swaziland. After the assassination of the vice chairman Mr. Victor Gamedze who was one of the few that supported his vision, he decided to leave the team at 124 in the ranking from 142.

Since he won the trophy with Zimbabwean FC Platinum, De Jongh has, in his own words, been extremely popular. “Supporters call me the champ or the savior. Does that suit me? Yes, I think so. You can safely say that.

“we played the Zimbabwean Cup final with Highlanders. I was in the newspaper every day, every day. Also often on the front page. On the last day the president of the country took his helicopter to the stadium. Everything was closed by soldiers and police officers. But in the morning he decided not to come. Later I heard the reason: he was afraid that I would win the trophy and that all the attention and status of the media would be for it I dare say that I can no longer walk there. “

As a coach for Somalia and Eswatini, he won only one game in 9 games, according to national-football-teams.com. He beat Lesotho 1-0 in a friendly game when coaching Eswatini at Mavuso Sports Centre. He lost to Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, during his day’s as a HC for Eswatini.

After all, De Jongh values African Football.

“I may well be working in Africa again soon and there are opportunities in Asia. Or I will return to Europe. You don’t know what’s going to happen in the Netherlands either. Why shouldn’t an Eredvision club.” are realistic? Platinum, highlanders, and leopards can be compared to Vitesse. I had seven internationals with Leopard in Kenya no respect for the level in African football,” said De Jongh in an interviews with Football Primeur.

In short, De Jongh has two trophies and has lost two finals.
