UDF demands immediate retraction of Chizuma’s ‘illigal’ interdiction
The former rulling party, United Democratic Front (UDF) has condemned Anti-Corruption Bureau Director General, Martha Chizuma’s Interdiction demanding an immediate retraction.
On Wednesday through the Office of the Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Colleen Zamba, the state President suspended the Corruption graft-busting boss, indicating that the move has been taken due to what has been described as serious misconduct regarding a case [Martha Chizuma] is answering on a leaked audio that circulated on social media in 2021.
In statement signed by the party’s Acting National Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Mwawa, UDF has described the interdiction of Chizuma as a purely a cobweb of political dealings aimed at suffocating the fight against corruption in this country.
UDF added that the move is an apparent abuse of state organs.
“This has been very evident all along. UDF is of the view that after assuring Parliament and the Nation that the purported charges against Ms Chizuma will be dropped, we are in this gruesome challenge. The sinister secretive deceitful and hypocritical plans have been laid bare, unfortunately, ” reads part of the statement dated 2nd February, 2023.
UDF has asked the state President, Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera to to walk in this fight against Corruption by making an immediate re-instatement of Ms Chizuma on her role as Director General of ACB.
