The Commissioner responsible for Northern Region Police Headquarters, Mrs Rhoda Manjolo has urged Community Policing Coordinators within her policing area to be proactive and utilise their roles when discharging their duties.

Speaking to the participants, Manjolo urged the coordinators to be attentive and practice the skills acquired which will help to strengthen good relationship between police and members of the public.

“Don’t just sit back and relax, put extra effort in establishing new community policing structures in all levels, coordinate with local leaders and their subordinates and also  enhance security matters inorder for the public to stop taking laws into their own hands” Manjolo said.

Manjolo also described community policing as a bridge between police and public. She therefore urged  them to be professional, integrity and enhance good customer care.

In his remarks, the officer In-charge for Rumphi Police Station Mr Pherson Nthenda Assistant Commissioner of Police(ACP) expressed  his gratitude to the Commissioner for gracing the occasion in his jurisdiction.

He also encouraged the coordinators to decentralize security matters to the society in  a systematic way and help the organisation to regain public trust.
