FAM launches FIFA Football for School Project in North

Football Association of Malawi has launched the FIFA Football for Sports Project in the northern region.
The event which took place at Katoto Primary school ground attracted kids from different primary schools.
26 primary school teachers were roped in this first phase program so that they can learn more about the project and teach their fellow teachers and kids in their respective zones.

Teachers represantative Misheck Chaula from Likoma zone thanked FAM through FIFA for this wonderful project as it will help in keeping kids busy and also strength sports in Malawi.
“This is a good development as you know many kids nowadays engage themselves in harmful activities but with the coming in of this project most kids will have something tangible to do and also this will help our football to go further as children will know things from the scratch” he said.
Northern Region District Educational Sports Officer Edmond Chakwira commended FAM for this development as it will help kids learn more than just football.
“As you can see FAM is not just teaching these kids football but also teaching them some life skills like peer pressure, abstainance and avoiding suicide cases which is very commendable as you can that cases of this nature are increasing daily” says Chikwira.
Representing Football Association of Malawi, Technical Director Benjamin Kumwenda said that he is happy that they have finished the launch of the program in the northern region after doing it in other regions.
“Am excited today that we have concluded this exercise here in northern region after successful doing the same in other regions, as you know northern region has produced alot of talent so we want this continue but also as we are teaching them football we want them to learn some life skills as you know these days cases of suicides are rising and we want to take advantage of this exercise to promote awareness on suicidal cases” he concluded.

Forty match footballs will be distributed among 120 primary schools in the first phase of this project.
FAM North coordinal Robert Mzinza, North Women’s Football Chairperson Salakunje Chimanga And other notable faces were present to grace the occasion.
