Rider dies in Rumphi road accident
A 33- year-old man dies after being involved in Rumphi road accident at Chikazinga area near Rumphi TTC junction.
The deceased has been identified as Tinthi Mbunge of Kapota Village under Traditional Authority Mtwalo in Mzimba district.
The incident occurred on Friday evening of December 2, 2022.
It is reported that driver Gift Khalaveya 65 of Thamangiwa Village under Traditional Nsamala in Balaka district was driving Iveco Lorry registration number BU 9772 and was coming from Rumphi heading Bolero road.
Upon arrival at the said place,the driver was turning to TTC junction while Mbunge who was also riding unregistered T-Better motorcycle from same direction and suddenly hit the motion motor vehicle.
Following the impact , Mbunge sustained severe head injuries and was taken to Rumphi District Hospital where medical officer pronounced him dead on arrival.
The driver escaped unhurt and the motorcycle got it’s handle bars and rear carrier damaged while the motor vehicle had no damages.
Meanwhile, Police in Rumphi are urging all road users to be observant when operating on road.
