Local NGO donates medical supplies to Karonga health centers


Pamoza Tingakwaniska Youth Organization in Karonga has donated various medical supplies to Iponga and Nyungwe health centers in the district with the aim of improving family planning services.
The donations which include among others sterilizer machines, lignocaine and surgical blades among others has been valued for over K500,000.
In an interview following the donation Programs Manager for the organization Gomezgani Mhango, said they were prompted to donate the medical supplies after observing gaps in the two health facilities in as far as family planning services is concerned.
Through our interactions with members of the communities that fall under our fiska ulato project that deals with family planning, the communities had express concern over a lack of family planning supplies hence we thought of donating the items to assist these facilities, she said.
Mhango has since urged the health center officials to put the supplies to good use in order that communities benefit from the medical supplies that are intended for communities.
Clinical Officer at Nyungwe Health Center Russell Kabaghe, expressed gratitude to the organization for donating the accessories saying the assistance is timely considering the challenges at the facility.

As a hospital we are supposed to procure such items for patience but we are unable to do so due to resource constraints hence we are thankful for this donation, Kabaghe explained.
On his part Officer in charge for Iponga Health Centre Chimwemwe Nangwale, said the donation of the medical items is also a great boost to the health workers as it has made their work much easier due to the availability of the medical supplies.
Pamoza Tingakwaniska is implementing Fiska Ulato project in areas of Traditional Authority Mwilangombe and Mwakaboko with funding from Breuckmann Foundation Germany.
