Region 5 games affect distribution of Water in Lilongwe
The Region Five Olympic Games which slated to start on December 2 up to 11 this year will affect the distribution of water in Lilongwe, The Malawi Guardian has learnt.
The Lilongwe Water Board has been tasked with the duty of filling an Olympic-swimming pool that has been constructed at the Aquatic Sports Complex at Kamuzu Institute for Sports hence the development.
Areas to be affected by the Region Five games are Area 7 (Kawale), Area 8 (Biwi), part of Kaliyeka and Area 17. According to the communication by the Lilongwe Water Board, the low pressure to no water situation starts today, 30th November, 2022.
“The works are expected to commence at 2:00 PM and are scheduled to be completed by 2:00 PM on Thursday 1st December, 2022.
“Water Supply will resume once the works are completed while some customers may experience delays in supply resumption as water pressure builds up in the system,” reads part of the communication.
Meanwhile, the Board has advised it’s valued customers to store enough water and use it sparingly during the stated period.
