Former Super League side Chitipa United dropped vital points after playing a goaless draw in their home game against resilient Kadona Stars at Base ground in Chitipa.

Having corrected maximum points in Nkhatabay last week against Chintheche United spectators came in their numbers to witness the encounter which ended in a goaless draw.

After the game Team Manager for Chitipa United Watson Kabaghe accepted the result saying his team was outplayed today.

“The result is disappointing to our mission, we were outplayed today by Kadona but we move on”.

Asked on chances of bouncing back to the elite league Kabaghe says the promotion is still possible though delayed.

“Getting a point against Kadona is good to us because we failed to play our game, we have hope that we will correct maximum points in our coming games” a visibly disappointed Kabaghe said.

His opposite side Matatiyo Banda says it was a difficult game against experienced side Chitipa and getting a point was not bad.

“We were playing against an experienced side so getting a point away is not bad for us, we now shift our focus to tomorrow’s fixture against Baka we need to get maximum points and finish our home games.” Banda said.

The result means Chitipa United still leads with 21 points from 11 games while Kadona is third with 17 points a point below Mighty Rumphi Wanderers which defeated bottom placed Ekwendeni United 2-1.

Simso Innobuild League continues tomorrow with Mayamiko hosting Chintheche United at Mzuzu Stadium while fifth placed Baka City will host Kadona Stars at Karonga Stadium.

As we went to press the updated log showed Chitipa United have 18 points from 10 games seconded by Mighty Rumphi Wanderers with 18 points from 12 games.

The log shows Chintheche United against Chitipa United result has been withheld.

There was no immediate comment from association at time of this report.

The league is expected to finish next month.
