Ekwendeni Hammers attacking midfielder, Chawanangwa Gumbo has joined the Super League Champions, Nyasa Big Bullets on a three-year contract.
The midfielder who has been one of the pillars of Hammers this season, was linked with a move to three Big teams, Silver Strikers, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets but eventually, he ended up to signing for Bullets.
The people’s team completed the transfer of the young midfielder just hours before wrapping the season with a game against Dedza Dynamos.
The team announced the arrival of the midfielder on Saturday afternoon.
“Nyasa Big Bullets is delighted to announce the signing of Chawanagwa Gumbo on a three-year contract. The 20-year-old finalized his move from Ekwendeni Hammers, a few hours before The People’s Team host Dedza Dynamos in their closing match of the 2022 TNM Super League campaign,” reads part of the announcement.
Chawanangwa was one of the five players that underwent trials with Pelican Sports Agency earlier this year but the deal failed to materialise.
Gumbo made 20 appearances in League and he managed to pillage four goals for Hammers.
This is the second signing of the People’s team after signing Maxwell Gasten Phodo.
