Mayamiko frustrates Mighty Rumphi
Mighty Rumphi Wanderers missed a chance to climb to position 2 after suffering a 2-1 defeat to a ten man Mayamiko Stars in Simso Innobuild game played on Wednesday at Mzuzu Stadium.
Saulosi Moyo scored 28 Minutes into the first half just a minute after scoring an offside goal.
Mayamiko’s marksman Davie Tobias was shown a straight red card at 40 minutes for a foul on Mighty Rumphi defender by Referee Waliko Simfukwe who also awarded the visitors a penalty which was blasted over the bar by Waliko Chaula.
There was more drama after the penalty as Tobias and Mayamiko technical were displeased with the red card which red to the second straight red to one of their officials Mayamiko Tembo, the play resumed and Mighty Rumphi Wanderers found the equalizer at 45 minutes just seconds before half time.
It took more than 25 minutes for the second half to resume following the first half commotion.
It was Mayamiko which took the game into the visitors half as Mighty Rumphi failed to utilize their advantage as they kept misfiring despite several substitutes.
Saulosi Moyo’s 40 metre drive found its way to the net after goalkeeper for the visitors failed to stop it, so it ended Mayamiko Stars 2 Mighty Rumphi Wanderers 1.
After the game Coach for Mighty Rumphi Wanderers William Kambewa conceded the defeat saying his boys failed to utilize chances but remains hopeful the will do better.
“We failed to utilize our chances especially in the first half we were very poor in finishing, we will try our best in the coming games.” Said Kambewa.
His opposite Patrick Kasambala Tembo praised his boys for a spirited performance despite playing with a man down most part of the second half.
“We have won despite playing with a red card with the win I believe we can finish in top 3 we will now focus on our cup game” a visibly happy Tembo said.
The result means Mighty Rumphi Wanderers maintain position 5 and have missed a chance to climb to position 2 while Mayamiko have displaced Chintheche United on position 6.
