Husband arrested for allegedly killing wife in Mzimba.
Police in Mzimba are keeping in custody a 19-year-man Benson Phiri, of Mahabu Phiri Village in Traditional Authority Chindi in the district for being suspected to have murdered his wife on Thursday, November 10, 2022.
The deceased has been identified as Pasipalenga Mphepo, aged 16 years.
The suspect and Mphepo got married in March this year and stayed together as husband and wife.

On Wednesday, November 9, 2022 the couple had disagreements over other family matters that led the suspect to hit his wife in the head with a handle of a hoe at around 20:00 hours.
Mphepo became unconscious and was taken to Mzimba District Hospital where she died a day later while receiving treatment.
Postmoterm results from the said district hospital revealed that death was due to severe head injuries, secondary to assault.
Benson Phiri will appear before court to answer a case of murder.
Meanwhile, police in the district is advising people to seek better ways of resolving differences rather than taking laws into own hands.
