Military affair: Moyale, KB face off in a battle for points
Kamuzu Baracks will be looking to bounce back to the winning ways as they face their brothers in arms, Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday in the Tnm superleague.
Kamuzu Baracks saw their 13-game unbeaten run coming to an end in the hands of Silver Strikers last week at Kasungu Stadium as the Bankers ambitiously pillaged two goals through Chawanangwa Kaonga and Stain Davie while Zeliati Nkhoma’s strike was not enough to salvage a point for 2MR soldiers.
Moyale Barracks are coming from a narrow 1-0 victory over the relegation threatened TN Stars at Mzuzu Stadium, thanks to Gasten Simkonda’s 34th minute strike.
Kamuzu Baracks have a record of 10 wins, while Moyale Barracks have a record of 9 wins with 5 games ending in stalemate since the Chioko-based Soldiers earned a Super League status in 2011.
Kamuzu Baracks are on number 3 with 51 points from 28 games and Assistant coach, Blessings Kawanga said they need three points to heighten their chances of finishing in top 3.
“We are geared up for the game. It is going to be a crucial game as we are targeting to finish in top 3. They will come flat-packed considering that we beat them in the first round. We have prepared the boys psychologically to recover from the [defeat Silver Strikers]. Everyone is available and ready for the game,” said Kawanga.
Prichard Mwansa, Head Coach for Moyale Barracks who are toiling on position 7 with 43 points from 27 games said it will be a tough game.
“They are doing fine, we need to prepare well and work hard to win this game. We know that it will be tough but we will do everything to win this game. I understand that the way the boys have been training, the workrate and seriousness of the players, we are hopeful that we will win the game,” said Mwansa.
A win for Kamuzu Baracks will see them going four points clear above Mighty Mukuru Wanderers with 54 points while for Moyale Barracks, a win will strengthen their chances of finishing in top 8 this season.
