Two people die in separate incidents in Mzimba

Two people have died in separate incidents on October 31, 2022 in Mzimba district.

The two have been identified as Emmanuel Banda 36 who was found dead in his house during the morning of October 31, 2022, at Manyamula in the district and John Mtonga 33, who hanged himself in the morning of October 31, 2022, at Thole Mtonga village in Euthini in the district.

Banda, has been going out for beer drinking from October 27 to 31 2022, and on Monday morning October 31 was found dead in his house. Postmoterm conducted by Mzimba district hospital personnel revealed that Banda died due to hypoglycemia.

In the second incident, it is reported that John Mtonga had unsound mind, and during the morning of October 31, 2022, he took breakfast and left home at around 08:00 hours to unknown destination. Mtonga was found hanging lifeless in a tree in the field about 200 meters away from home.

Postmoterm conduct by Health personnel from Euthini Health Center revealed that Mtonga died of suffocation secondary to strangulation.

Police in the district is advising people to avoid taking beer on an empty stomach and avoid killing onself but rather seek assistance from relevant authorities.

Emmanuel Banda hailed from Longwe Kamanga Village in Traditional Authority M’mbelwa while John Mtonga hailed from Thole Mtonga Village in Traditional Authority Chindi both in Mzimba District.
