“Players showed character” Silver coach

Silver Strikers Football Club Head Coach, Leo Mpulura praised the attitude of his players in a 1-0 victory over Dedza Dynamos on Monday afternoon.
The Central Bankers were without a win a their last five games and they had to produce a gallant fight to amass maximum points in their quest to finish tye season in top 4.
Prior to the game, they had lost 3 games out of 5, losing to Mighty Wanderers, Blue Eagles, and Mighty Tigers and sharing spoils with Nyasa Big Bullets and Karonga United.
Since they relocated their home ground from Balaka Stadium to Dedza, the Salima Sugar sponsored side has enjoyed a good run of results, winning 5 and drawing 2.
They beat Ekwendeni Hammers, Rumphi United, Civo Service United, Mighty Waka Waka Tigers and Mafco, drawing against Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and Moyale Barracks.
Dedza Dynamos managed a point away from home against the Central Bankers in the first round and also past cruise through them in the FDH Bank Cup after a 5-4 victory on penalties.
The unbeaten record for Dedza Dynamos Salima Sugar Football Club came to un end through Stain Davie’s 16th minute strike.
In the post-match interviews, Leo Mpulura said he was happy with the attitude of his players.
“It was a tough game, but thanks to the guys for showing characters. The boys put up a gallant fight, they fought hard though at one time we could misfire but they played according to the instructions. It has been a good game and we thank God for the victory and when we go back to the drawing board, we will rectify where things are not going well. All in all, I should praise the boys, they fought hard and they have shown character. This is hat we need and going forward, we still need to win and collect maximum points from the remaining games.
“Am really impressed [with the performance, especially the character, they have done what we wanted. They had a fighting spirit even though the ground was bumpy but they tried. They play our passing ball, our philosophy, umodzi umodzi, and we need this victory because we missed it,” said Mpulura.
The victory sees the Area 47-based side climbing the table to 5th from 7th with 42 points from 27 games and they will travel to Mzuzu to face Moyale Barracks. In je first round, points were shared at Silver Stadium after a goalless stalemate.
Dedza are on number 8 with 39 points from 26 games and they will travel to Lilongwe to face Blue Eagles.
