International Day of Girls Child shine
On 12th October, 2022, 14-year-old girl Praise, a Form 2 student, took over the office of Reserve Bank Director for Northern Region Branch in Mzuzu.
The day was proceeded by a mentorship session with members of staff from the Reserve Bank of Malawi. Managers from various department ranging from ICT, Accounting and Banking made brief presentations on how the young girls can aspire and take on the decision-making positions.
In their discussion, the new Director, Praise, asked the bank to champion the Girls Get Equal campaign in promoting girls and young women in decision making positions such of the regional governor of the Reserve Bank.
“I felt excited to have taken the role of Regional Director of Reserve Bank of Malaw. It has inspired me to work hard in school so I can become a Chief Executive Officer one day,” said Praise.
The event was in commemoration of the International Day of Girls Child 2022 with the theme of Girls Equal Political Participation.
