Renowned local realtor Innobuild Malawi Limited has come to the rescue of their brand ambassador comedian Che Mandota who has been stranded in Uganda after being duped by fraudsters, with K1.5million.

Che Mandota whose real name is Jamil Chikakuda last week wrote a cryptic message on Facebook that he was depressed and needed financial assistance from well wishers.

It was later revealed that the comedian who also has a side hustle importing and exporting goods between Malawi and Uganda, got into a deal with some unscrupulous individuals who defrauded him leaving him stranded at the mercy of clients who had already paid money.

This according to a statement by Innobuild released yesterday, prompted the company to follow up on him and hence after a lengthy discussion he was given the money as a bailout from his unfortunate predicament.

The statement adds that the comedian did not tell Innobuild about his problem beforehand.

“So we contacted him today and had a long chat with him. He narrated how he got into bad business and got duped by an investment. We asked for proof which he produced and we felt obliged to help him. We, therefore, have issued him a cheque of 1.5 Million Kwacha which we shall deposit into his account tomorrow (today).

“We understand it’s just bad business and it can happen to anyone. We, therefore, stand with him in such trying times,” reads part of the statement which can be found on the company’s Facebook page.

On his part, Che Mandota thanked the company for coming to his rescue in addition to other Malawians who showed sympathy and donated various sums of money to assist him.

He says he currently operates an online export business and through one of his business transactions he was duped of $1300 (K1,820,000) which he had taken in advance from his clients to supply goods.

“I would not contact my workplace here in Uganda or Innobuild (where I am their ambassador) as I thought it would be an inconvenience for them since I already got paid my monthly payment in full at the start of the month,” He said

According to Che Mandota, the K1.5 million from Innobuild in addition to K320 thousand which well-wishers donated via different platforms will be enough to pay off his debts.
