DPP to hold elective Convention in July 2023
The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has set July 2023 as the month to hold its elective Convention to chose their torchbearer during the 2025 General elections.
Making the announcement was the Party’s President, Professor Authur Peter Mutharika during the Mulhakho wa Alhomwe 2022 cultural celebrations at Chonde in Mulanje on Sunday.
“We have finished developing new guidelines of the Convention. The guidelines will be endorsed at our National Governing Council Meetings on December 4, this year.
“We will hold our elective Convention next year in July. Anyone who is not ready to play according to the rules should leave the party and form their own Political Party,” said Mutharika.
He added that he will guide the party on who to choose at the Convention if he is not contest for the Presidency.
Some of the notable contenders for the Party’s Presidency are Bright Msaka, Kondwani Nankhukwa and Dalitso Kabambe.
