Daniel Mshali is the suspect alleged to have stabbed to death Malani Mwabanga and wounded two other victims.
Report filed at Rumphi Police Station indicates that the suspect Daniel Mshali married Glory Mwabanga who is a sister to Malani ( now deceased).
It is reported that the suspect Daniel Mshali and his wife Glory Mwabanga have been quarrelling for several times, and this forced the wife to go back to her parent’s house.
This did not please his husband Daniel Mshali who was pleading for forgiveness from his wife but to no avail.
On September 26, 2022 during morning hours, the suspect met his wife on her way to her peacework. He then told her to come back to his home , but the wife refused due to misunderstandings in the family.
Later, in the evening of the same day, Daniel Mshali went to her wife’s parent home and knocked the door continuously whilst telling his wife to go with him at his home.
The wife did not respond, and this annoyed him and he broke a window and entered into his wife room.
A quarrel broke in the room. Then Malani (deceased) come out from his room going to his sister room in order to rescue her from her husband.
Immediately ,Daniel produced a knife and stabbed Malani twice on the chest and he felt unconscious.
He later stabbed his wife and sister to his wife both on stomach and ran away.
The three where taken to David Gordon Memorial Hospital and Malani was confirmed dead due to internal injuries and severe loss of blood, whilst the wife and sister are receiving treatment at the same hospital.
Meanwhile, police in the district are advising community members to refrain from this barbaric act once misunderstanding rose in families. They should rather seek advice from relevant authorities in order to settle matters.
Again, police are appealing to those who can have information that can lead to arrest of the suspect to come forward.
