Malawian medics team pledges to support the country’s health sector
A team of Malawian medics working has pledged to support the country’s health sector by mobilising skills and equipment to be used in the sector.
They made the remarks yesterday when they met His Excellency Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on the sidelines of the UNGA engagements.
Team leader of the medics, professor Edward Kalumbamoyo Mbewe said his team is committed to sourcing funding and expertise to aid the country’s health sector.
“We come together as your children in diaspora to say how can we help our brothers and sisters in Malawi. We need to identify our needs and then ask for help because we don’t want Malawi to be a dumping place.
“We are Malawians in diaspora, we are committed to work with fellow Malawians to improve the health of Malawians.we are positioned to contribute and connect our resources to potential donors. Coordination and collaboration with various sectors will be beneficial to all Malawians,” said Kalumbamoyo.
Meanwhile, Dr Lazarus Chakwera has hailed the team for showing their commitment in improving their health welfare of the Malawians.
He said the approach that the team have taken was unique because they were working hand in hand with their Malawian counterpart to identify gaps and needs in the sector for their intervention.
“I am so glad with the commitment that you have shown. What you are saying here is that you want to do something for your country because you realise that we needed to rise yesterday and needed not to he where we are today,” said Chakwera.
