Fire gutted down part of Zigwagwa Market in Mzuzu
Fire has gutted part of Vigwagwa Market in Mzuzu in the wee hours of today Thursday September 23.
This is the second time the market burnt as at first million of goods and commodities lost.
Shops that are into the agriculture commodities as well as second hand clothes are the most affected ones.
Allan Masiya Chairperson of the section says they are yet to establish the cause of the fire.
“I just received a call early hours of today that the market is in fire, that’s when me and other friends rushes here to see that it’s indeed part of the marketing was burning,etc me also thank those who helps to put the fire down, at the moment we don’t know the cause of the fire,” he said.
The fire has affected atleast 47 people.
Mzuzu Police publist Paul Tembo said it’s too early to comment since they are still investigating the cause.
