Man of God jailed 10 years defiling, impregnating mentally girl

The Kasungu Magistrate’s Court on Friday 2 September 2022 convected and sentenced a 52-year man Chindiyang’ana Chidzale for defiling and impregnating a 18 year old embicile in the district.

The court through the State prosecutor sub inspector Atusaye Kayira heard that the convect has been defiling the girl repeatedly from December 2021 to January 2022 at Chinkhoma trading centre.

The court further heard that the girl went to the prophet for prayers and the suspect took the advantage of sickness of the girl and has been sleeping with her from December 2021 to January 2022.

On March 17, 2022 a mother of the girl noticed some changes on her and when she was asked she revealed that she has been sleeping with the convict.

Bua police unite issued the victim with medical report that revealed she was indeed defiled and is 8 weeks pregnant this led to his arrest.

Appearing before court, the convict pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement, this prompted the state to parade four witness to prove the case.

In her submission, Kayira prayed a stiffer punishment saying such cases are increasing in Kasungu and as well as in Malawi and him being a prophet has a responsibility to take good care of the victim and instead he deliberately defiled her.

Passing the sentence First Grade Magistrate Damiano Banda concurred with the police prosecutor’s submission hence sentenced him to 10 years in jail to deter would be offenders.

Chidzale hails from Rabson village in the Traditional Authority Kanduku in Mwanza District.
