Fam slaps Wanderers with a fine of 2.5m for misconduct

The Football Association of Malawi through its competition Committee has slapped Mighty Wanderers Football Club with a K2.5 Million fine for misconduct following events that occurred during the FDH Bank Cup Round of 16 game against Dedza Dynamos at Dedza Stadium on August 7, 2022.

Committee on 17th August charged the Lali Luban based team with two offences for misconduct and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC were given up to 48 hours upon receipt of the charge letter to respond. The Club admitted the two charges in its response dated 18th August 2022.
On its verdict, the Committee has found Mighty Mukuru Wanderers guilty on two accounts for misconduct, for example, discharge of a strange behavior and tampering with the pitch and dressing room area due to juju beliefs.
Part of the letter reads, “Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC failed to prevent their players from urinating on the pitch upon arrival at the stadium and pouring urine around the dressing room area due to juju beliefs contrary to Article 24.9 of the 2022 FDH Bank Cup Rules and Regulations. Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are hereby fined Five hundred thousand Kwacha (K500,000.00)
The Nomads were also found guilty on the account of Bringing the game of football into disrepute contrary to Article 67 of the FAM Disciplinary Code.
“Mighty Mukuru Wanderers FC failed to prevent their players from engaging in improper conduct as per Count 1 above and their actions brought the game of football, FAM and name of the sponsor into disrepute contrary to Article 67 of the FAM Disciplinary Code.
“Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are hereby fined Two million Kwacha (K2,000,000.00), of which One million five hundred thousand Kwacha (K1,500,000.00) is suspended for a period of six months from the date of the decision, on condition that during the period of suspension, they are not found guilty of the same offence again,” added the letter.
The Committee has demanded Mighty Wanderers to pay a fine of K1,000,000 before their next official fixture and they have been urged to seek an appeal if they are not satisfied with the decision within 72hours.
Meanwhile, Nyasa Big Bulllets Reserve have been charged with two offences for misconduct following events that occurred at Kamuzu Stadium on 21st August, 2022 against Blue Eagles in the quarterfinal game.
Fam said Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves failed to control its supporters from inciting violence by throwing objects into the field of play during the said match causing the match to be stopped for six minutes as such, Bullets Reserve have been charged with an account of Inciting violence contrary to Article 24.18 of the 2022 FDH Bank Cup Rules and Regulation.
Fam also said Nyasa Big Bullets Reserves failed to control its supporters from engaging in improper conduct as per Count 1 above and their actions brought the game of football, FAM and name of the sponsor into disrepute as such Bullets Reserve have been charged with an account bringing the game of football into disrepute contrary to Article 67 of the
FAM Disciplinary Code.
The committee has invited Bullets Reserve to provide the Secretariat of FAM with their position in relation to the charges levelled against them within 48 hours of the notification.
