Suspect murders nabbed in Nkhata Bay
Police in Nkhata Bay District have apprehended two men for allegedly taking part in the brutal killing of an elderly man, Speakwell Mlinda, on August 8, 2022 at Malaza in the district.
The two have been identified as Fred Nkhoma Aged 40, of Chijere Village and Chituzu Chirwa (Village headman Chipakala) both from Traditional Authority Malengamzoma in Nkhata Bay District.
It is alleged that the suspects were on the material date in a gang of other angry villagers who killed Mlinda purportedly in retaliation to the death of their relative James Ng’oma who was murdered by his (Mlinda) grandson Indien Julius Mwale who is currently in police custody.
The suspects were arrested on August 20, 2022, following the investigations that were instituted by Police Officers at Chintheche Police Post.
Meanwhile, investigations are still in progress to arrest the remaining suspects. Police in the district are encouraging all patriotic citizens to keep on providing information that may help in the arrest of the remaining suspects.
