Malawi Beach Soccer team in financial constraints ahead of COSAFA tournament

Fears have flared that the Malawi Beach Soccer National team might not take part in the 2022 Beach Soccer COSAFA tournament which is scheduled to take place next month in Durban, South Africa due to financial problem.
Gift Chimbalanga, President for Beach Soccer Association has disclosed the development they are at risk of withdrawing from the tournament as they don’t have financial package.
Meanwhile, Chimbalanga said that he will then plead with Football Association of Malawi to at least help them in organizing a friendly match to boost their preparations for October this year Beach Soccer African Cup of Nations which will take place in Mozambique should they withdraw from the regional tournament.
“We were making our preparations for the COSAFA and AFCON beach soccer but due to financial challenges I think the option will be one now, as you are aware that preparations need money and resources and our coffers do not have such kind of resources so FAM asked us to have one option”. Said Chimbalanga
He went further said that in view of this challenge, a friendly match might be a helpful thing for the team to help them prepare well for Beach soccer African cup of Nations.
Willy Milambe who is the Head coach for the Beach Soccer National team, said that he will rather prefer to play Mozambique if the friendly match is to be organise.
“I would prefer if we play with Mozambique because they are at good side interm of their beach soccer play standard of which will assist us to see where our loopholes are for us to fix”. Said Milambe
Malawi Beach Soccer National team qualified for the 2022 Beach soccer African Cup of Nations (Afcon) after beating Tanzania in the qualifiers stage. The finals will take place in Maputo Mozambique from 21st up to 30th October this year
