The impeached Public Accounts Committee Chairperson (PAC), Shadreck Namalomba who is also a Member of Parliament for Mangochi South West has challenged his removal from the post as he has seek legal action against it.
The High Court in Blantyre has on Thursday granted Namalomba an injunction restraining the Speaker of the National Assembly, Catherine Gotani Hara, Democratic Progressive Party Chief Whip Julius Mhone and the newly appointed Public Accounts Committee Chairperson Mark Bottoman from firing him as the PAC Chairperson and member of the committee.
Namalomba was impeached as the PAC Chairperson last month for alleged compromise following his recent appointment as Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) spokesperson before replaced by Mark Bottoman.
Meanwhile, the Leader of the Parliament, Richard Chimwendo Banda has described an injunction obtained by the DPP Spokesperson as not making sense as Namalomba is no longer a member of the committee.
Chimwendo Banda has, however, said the house will not do anything against the injunction while waiting for legal guidance from the Attorney General, Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda.
Namalomba’s lawyer, Felix Tambulasi said with the injunction obtained, Namalomba is back as the Public Accounts Committee for the time being.
