Fazili to spearhead the Scorchers Technical Panel

Former Silver Strikers and Flames Coach, Lovemore Fazili is going to spearhead the Scorchers Technical Panel as the Football Association of Malawi has appointed him as the permanent coach for Malawi Women’s National Football, the Scorchers.

Football Association of Malawi earlier announced that it had appointed Thom Mkolongo as the Head Coach of the team before the Coach turned down the offer.

FAM General Secretary Alfred Gunda confirmed the development saying they believe that with the vast experience that Fazili has, will help to raise the standard of Scorchers play.

“In the absence of Nkolongo we had to look for another elite coach to take charge of the team.

“We have confidence that his vast experience and exposure will be of great value to the scorchers. He has been with the U20 and also on the panel of the Flames that qualified for Cameroon AFCON” Gunda.

Fazili said he is honoured to take charge of the Scorchers.

” It is a new challenge in my coaching career which I am excited to take. I will speak more once I meet the girls and the rest of the team,” he said.

Details indicate that Fazili will be unveiled this afternoon in Lilongwe and he is going to be assisted by Andrew Chikhosi and AbasiMakawa.

Fazili dumped Silver Strikers for Flames before being sacked later.

He has also served as assistant for the Malawi Under 20, Under 23.

The Scorchers are currently in camp in Lilongwe ahead of the Cosafa tournament in Port Elizabeth between 31 August- 11 September.
