Elderly people encouraged to access Covid-19 Vaccination

Elderly people in the country have been encouraged to access Covid-19 Vaccination to maintain their health status.

Making the call was the Programmes Officer for Malawi Network of Elderly Persons Organizations (MANEPO) Nitike Ngwira in Zomba where the organisation verified names of Elderly persons that are expected to receive various items from the Network of the Elderly persons organisations.

She added that the organisation is committed to render its assistance to the Elderly.

“Covid-19 attacks any person including Elderly people. We are encouraging you to go for the vaccine so that you maintain your health.

“MANEPO will continue assisting Elderly people, that’s our responsibility ensuring your health is well maintained,” said Ngwira.

Meanwhile, Elderly people have hailed the Organisation for its unwavering support towards their age group.

One of the beneficiaries of the initiative run by the organisation, Samuel Mtawira said the Covid-19 vaccine is important for their age group because they are vulnerable to opportunistic infections and also respiratory diseases.

150 Elderly people from Traditional Authority Nkagula are in line to benefit from the humanitarian food assistance and other non food items from MANEPO, an initiative that is being funded by OSISA
