Chirwa promise to improve Hammers’ play

The newly appointed Head coach for Ekwendeni Hammers, Gilbert Chirwa has vowed to improve the playing standards of his team ahead of their next game in the TNM Superleague with Silver strikers.

Gilbert Chirwa replaced Edson Kadenge Mwafulirwa who parted ways last week with the team due to the poor performance of the team and he was later deployed to the position of Technical director which the tactician turned down.

The former Nyasa Big Bullets mentor started his discharging his duties on Wednesday and said he has noted many challenges and crucks within the team intems of its play and coordination of players hence would like to work on fixing them.

The tactician who earlier this season resigned as Rumphi United coach said he is hopeful that his team will start doing well in the league.

“I am trying to fix the play of the team though I have come late but my boys are responding well with what am telling them.

“We had problems of keeping the ball in the half of our opponent which is our offensive zone but with time I’m sure we will pick up and I’m confident that as a team we will start doing well” said Chirwa.

Hammers will face the wounded soldiers, Silver strikers this coming Friday at Mzuzu stadium.

Silvers’ trip to the North has been boosted by the addition of Striker, Stain Davie and Defender, Mark Fodya.

Currently Ekwendeni Hammers have played 18 games with accumulation of 14points and are on 14th position in the TNM Superleague log table.
