A 28-year-old herbalist is in police custody at Nsanje Police Station on suspicion that he was found with 59 human bones.
The man, identified as Blessings Masina, was arrested in the morning hours of August 15, 2022 at Mtemangawo Village in the district.
The arrest follows information that was received by detectives from a well-wisher that Masina was keeping human bones at his house which he was offering for sale at a price of K30 million.
Acting on the information, detectives raided the house where recovery of the said human bones was made.
This led to the arrest of the suspect.
Upon interrogation, the suspect revealed that he got the bones from one of the graveyards at Chisamba Village in T.A Mbenje in the district, being remains of a person with albinism.
Meanwhile, inquiries are underway to trace the graveyard.
Blessings Masina comes from Nyang’a Village in T.A Mbenje in Nsanje District and will appear before court soon to answer a charge of found in possession of human tissues.
